Hello, I'm Dennis Stewart, the "CPR GURU".

I'm a native of Indiana and have spent many years of my life traveling all across the mid-west teaching CPR classes. This life saving skill is very important and personal to me.

I've spent 23 years in the fire service as a front line fire fighter and medic and also served in the Army Medical Corps. for 24 years. I've worked in helicopters, hospitals, and Hummers, putting life saving skills into motion first hand. I know what it's like to be in these situations and want to do everything I can to prepare you for some of life's emergencies.

I've been teaching CPR and safety classes for almost four decades and I love what I do.

Not only have I performed CPR on countless patients, but I myself am a cardiac arrest survivor who had my life saved by CPR.

April 5th 2003, I was set to deploy to Iraq. Late that night in my barracks, I awoke to a crushing chest pain, sweat dripping from my forehead. I felt like I was going to die right there. I was rushed to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with an acute MI. This couldn't be happening to me, I reasoned. Yet there I was, connected to all those IV lines and monitors.

It was determined that I needed to be transported to a facility forty miles away. En route, I became unconscious, only to awake to the sound of "CLEAR". I had already been shocked twice!

For as many times as I'd been on the other side of that experience, I'd never expected it to happen to me. I'm constantly so thankful that everyone in that ambulance knew what to do.

It's because of that, that I treat each training session as though each student could be that life saver.
